Oil Painting on Board by listed artist Frede Vidar
Danish Born Frede Vidar (1911-1967) received his training from the Royal Academy of Denmark, the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Academie Julian in Paris, the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and the California School of Fine Art in San Francisco where he eventually settled for most of his relatively short life. He painted a wide variety of subjects in a realistic style, depicting everyday scenes and subjects from the 30's and 40's including WWII combat scenes. His work can be found in the Pasadena Art Institute, The Museum of Modern art in New York and the National Museum in Copenhagen among others while some of his more well known murals reside in the Coit Tower, San Francisco. This framed Oil on Board measures 15 1/2 by 24 1/2 and depicts the wondrous world of the Magician. It is signed "vidar" in script near the lower left part of the image and is in good condition ready to hang.
