Joe Porper’s Color Spot Paddle and Toothpick Twister: two great paddle effects

Color Spot Paddle: Here’s a new and original paddle effect for you from the creative mind of Joe Porper. Nothing could be simpler, or easier to perform. A small paddle is introduced and shows a RED spot in the center. Both sides are shown to be the same.

In an instant the RED spot changes to WHITE and the paddle is shown to have a WHITE spot on both sides. But before you know it, the spot has changed again. It’s now seen to be BLUE on both sides. The paddle can now be immediately handed out for examination, and there is NOTHING to be found!

Thanks to Joe Porpers genius, the Color Spot Paddle works with a simple mechanism that locks to ensure it can be handled by the spectators at the end of the effect.

Toothpick Twister A small black rod is shown with three holes encirlced by a red, blue and white ring. He holds the rod in both hands with fingertips at each end and has a spectator insert a toothpick through the middle, white, hole. He shows it on both sides to clearly show that the toothpick does go through the rod.Now, with just a gentle shake, the toothpick VISIBLY jumps from the center white hole to the outer red hole! Again, the rod is shown on both sides. It is merely revolved in the fingers to show the sides; no exaggerated wrist movements like the paddle move.The spectator now places the toothpick back into the middle hole. Another shake and it visibly jumps to the inner blue hole! Again, it is shown both sides and the toothpick removed and the rod immediately given for full examination! There  is nothing to find and, try as he may, the spectator will never make the toothpick jump.It’s a beautiful piece of precision metalwork.
